Established in 2005, the Atlantic Way is a pioneering voluntary organisation comprised of leaders and decision-makers in business, education, community organisations, and local government, based in the West and Mid-West of Ireland. Members include some of the largest Irish-based multinationals like Hewlett Packard, Analog Devices, Cook Group Europe, GECAS and Olympus. Among the member organisations are government agencies such as the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Shannon Development, the Mid-West and West Regional Authorities, Local Authorities, Shannon Airport Authority, the two Universities in Limerick and Galway, Limerick Institute of Technology, Galway Mayo Institute, the Chambers of Commerce, Tourist organisations, major hotels and a wide array of individual businesses.

The Atlantic Way has set out to establish strong alliances and co-operation between people and business regionally, nationally and internationally, with the objective of creating a region of excellence for future economic and social growth centred on the Galway – Limerick/Shannon corridor.

By acting as a catalyst for change, the Atlantic Way combines regional strengths, resources and drive in order to maximise economic and social potential for all. The vision of the Atlantic Way is for the 1.5 million people who live and work in the region to enjoy world class living, leisure knowledge and work opportunities by 2020.
