Westparks continued commitment to ICT infrastructure for the area sees the campus offering its approach to the current ‘digital divide’ between the East and the West coasts of Ireland – the concept relates to the majority of ICT infrastructure being based in the Dublin region and therefore business parks outside of the capital must connect to a particular carrier depending on geographical location.
Westpark decided to invest heavily in bridging the telecommunications gap and connecting its clients to the world where a selection of up to ten multi-tier carriers will provide some of the most competitive rates outside of Dublin making the campus a ‘carrier neutral’ zone – a first for the Shannon region.
The campus hosts an aboveground datacentre, which will be a powerful source of Telecoms traffic growth in the Mid-West. Within two years the datacenter will act as a key Interface Point between the 120 companies in the Shannon Free Zone, the 270 technology companies of the Atlantic Technology corridor and all the major ICT service providers in the Shannon – Galway corridor and will vigorously stimulate that market.
